CONCEPTUAL ART AS FICTION

Art creation, which aims to meet the audience within the framework of the possibilities of use of the material dominated by the individual, who is the creator of emotions and thoughts, is a phenomenon that has existed throughout history. Even though the work of art is accepted as a means of expression, it is a common product of the artist and the culture in which it is produced. On the other hand, works of art in which language and thought are actively used in art history are very limited. Within this limitation, conceptual art stands out with its unique structure. As a result of the search for new art in the 1960s, conceptual art emerges as a questioning of art and reality with the help of thought and language. This research was carried out in order to combine the conceptual art's use of language and thought with the concept of fiction. Language and thought are two important elements in creating fiction. For this reason, conceptual art, which is one of the places where fiction is used in art, has been examined within the triangle of its own structure, language and thought. While doing this, how fiction is constructed and how art reveals a different reality with the help of language and thought are examined. While creating the article, the methods of literature research and interpretation of visual sources were used.

Duygu ve düşüncelerin yaratıcısı olan bireyin hâkim olduğu malzemenin kullanım olanakları çerçevesinde izleyicisiyle buluşmasını amaçlayan sanat yaratımı tarih boyunca var olmuş bir olgudur. Sanat eseri, her ne kadar ifade aracı olarak kabul görmüş olsa bile, sanatçısının ve içinde üretildiği kültürün ortak bir ürünüdür. Buna karşın sanat tarihinde dil ve düşüncenin aktif olarak kullanıldığı sanat yapıtları oldukça sınırlıdır. Bu sınırlılığın içinde kendine özgü yapısıyla kavramsal sanat öne çıkmaktadır. 1960’lı yıllarda sanatın yeni arayış içinde olması sonucunda kavramsal sanat, düşünce ve dil yardımıyla sanatın ve gerçekliğin bir sorgulaması olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu araştırma, kavramsal sanatın dili ve düşünceyi kullanış şeklini, kurmaca kavramı ile birleştirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Dil ve düşünce, kurmacayı yaratmak konusunda önemli iki unsurdur. Bu nedenle sanatta kurmacanın kullanıldığı yerlerden biri olan kavramsal sanat, kendi yapısı, dil ve düşünce üçgeni içinde incelenmiştir. Bunu yaparken bir yandan kurmacanın nasıl kurulduğu bir yandan dil ve düşünce yardımıyla sanatın nasıl farklı bir gerçeklik ortaya koyduğu incelenmiştir. Makale oluşturulurken, literatür araştırması ve görsel kaynakların yorumlanması yöntemlerinden faydalanılmıştır.
